PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a location-free extension telephone system for enabling the other party to whom a caller wants to call to answer an incoming extension call at a different place when the other party is not at a place where the other party usually uses an extension terminal. SOLUTION: In the telephone system comprising a main device and a plurality of extension terminals, the main device comprises a storing means for information about users of the extension terminals, and a storing means for information about the extension terminals, an extension terminal comprises an internal memory for storing allocated extension numbers, the terminal acquires the authentication information of an individual operating the terminal and transmits the authentication information to the main device when the extension terminal is operated, and the main device searches the authentication information and the extension number of information about an extension terminal user stored in the main device and automatically allocates the searched extension number to an extension terminal operated by the extension terminal user.
