PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking mechanism of a connector allowing a release operation of a lock and an extraction operation of the connector to be separately executed in separating the connector. SOLUTION: This locking mechanism of a connector is provided with: first and second locking parts 23 respectively formed integrally with respective housings of first and second connectors 10 and 20 fitted to each other, and locking the first and second connectors in a fitted state by engaging with each other in conjunction with a fitting operation when the first and second connectors are regularly fitted to each other; and release state-holding recessed parts 14 or grooves 12 formed on the inside surface of the housing of the first connector, and holding, when the second locking part is displaced to a position for releasing engagement with the first lock part, the second locking part at that position.
