PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foaming composition that can produce a foam excellent in molding processability such as thin material formation and lamination, and having fine bubbles, a method for producing the foam using it, and a composition for producing the foam having a high environment maintainability that can maintain the foamed (porous) structure without disappearing the fine bubbles even on leaving it under a high humidity environment. SOLUTION: The composition for producing the foam is characterized by containing an acid-generating agent for generating an acid or a base-generating agent for generating a base by the action of an active energy beam, and further a compound having a decomposable foaming functional group to decompose and release equal to or more than one kind of low-boiling volatile compound by reacting with the acid or base. The decomposable foaming compound is selected from (1) a film-forming polymer and (2) a monomer polymerizing by an irradiation of the active energy beam to form the film-forming polymer.
