PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding material composition comprising a porous silica compounded therein, capable of connecting the porous silica in the interior of the composition at a high communication ratio and thereby continuously feeding a lubricant to the surface of a sliding part and having excellent low friction and low abrasion properties. SOLUTION: The sliding material composition is obtained by compounding at least the porous silica and the lubricant with a resin material. In the sliding material composition, the communication ratio of the oil-containing porous silica holding the lubricant in the porous silica determined by a prescribed method for calculation is≥20%. The method for calculation is carried out as follows: a bulk body assumed to be formed by compounding the oil-containing porous silica with the resin material is expressed as a model obtained by stacking optional numbers of cubic cells having an average particle diameter of the oil-containing porous silica as the length of one side, respectively in the X-axis direction, the Y-axis direction and the Z-axis direction which are planar directions.
