APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR LNG CARRIER PROPULSION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for LNG carrier propulsion capable of coping with emergency in nonconformity of a main diesel engine while setting one unit of the main diesel engine and its method. SOLUTION: This apparatus for the LNG carrier propulsion is an apparatus to propel the LNG carrier furnished with an evaporated gas re-liquefying device to return evaporated gas generated in an LNG storage tank to the LNG storage tank by re-liquefying it and includes one unit of the main diesel engine, a propeller shaft connected to the main diesel engine free to be separated from it and an electric motor for propulsion connected to the propeller shaft free to be separated from it and to be supplied with electric power used to actuate the evaporated gas re-liquefying device.
