PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection device of accumulated sludge in a sedimentation tank which can optionally set an allowable amount of accumulated sludge in the tank in advance and detect settled sludge accumulated up to the set amount in the sedimentation tank accumulating settled sludge on the bottom and discharging supernatant to the outside of the tank. SOLUTION: In a bottomless cylindrical body vertically supported in the tank with the bottomless part serving as a passage port, the height position of the lower end of the cylindrical body holds optionally the distance to the bottom of the tank, and is set lower than the position of a discharge port. The cylindrical body having a length with the upper end higher than the position of the discharge port is disposed in the tank. A supply port of slurry is provided on the cylindrical body wall, and a bypass port communicating the inside of the cylindrical body with the inside of the tank outside of the cylindrical body is provided at a place on the cylindrical body wall and higher than the discharge port.
