A method and an apparatus for supporting ARQ transmission in wireless communication are provided to discriminate a successively received ARQ block and an ARQ block with an error to retransmit only the ARQ block having the error, thereby preventing the deterioration of performance due to unnecessary ARQ block retransmission and improving ARQ and system performance. A method for supporting ARQ(Automatic Repeat reQuest) transmission in wireless communication comprises the following steps of: receiving at least one MAC(Media Access Control) SDU(Service Data Unit) from an upper layer in an MAC layer supporting an ARQ protocol(S400); generating at least one ARQ block(S410); adding error detection information to each of the generated ARQ blocks(S420); and generating an MAC PDU(Packet Data Unit)(S430).
