PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image reader capable of achieving its miniaturization and improvement of workability in attaching/detaching a movable frame. SOLUTION: The frame driving part 40 of the image reader is provided with two-step pulleys 45 comprising a large pulley 45a and a small pulley 45b at both ends of a driving shaft 42 and a driven shaft 43, and a high-speed wire 44a is wound round the large pulley 45a and a low-speed wire 44b is wound round the small pulley 45b.
