The device has a heat ray mechanism (19) arranged in a fixing chamber open at a dispensing funnel (21), where heat rays come from the heat ray mechanism. Light-voltage converters (28, 29) adjacent to the fixing chamber are arranged in the dispensing funnel such that the heat rays impinge on the light-voltage converters only after reflection into the fixing chamber. The light-voltage converters emit a measuring signal depending on the reflected heat rays. An independent claim is also included for a method for identifying fire.
