<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber ribbon which facilitates splitting into optical fiber ribbons with a small number of fibers and separating into coated single optical fibers, and also to provide an optical cable using the optical fiber ribbon. <P>SOLUTION: The optical fiber ribbon unit 13 is constituted of a plurality of coated single optical fibers 11 which are arranged in parallel and the outer circumference is coated by a primary tape layer 12. This optical fiber ribbon unit 13 is arranged in parallel in plurality substantially in substantially the direction as the arraying direction of the coated single optical fibers 11, with the outer circumference coated by a secondary tape layer 14. The primary and secondary tape layers 12, 14 comprise a resin, having a Young's modulus of 700-1,100 MPa at 23°C and a resin, having a Young's modulus of 20-70 MPa at 23°C, respectively, in the optical fiber ribbon 10.
