<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device which suppresses soiling at the inside of an image forming apparatus occurring upon the replacement of the cleaning device, and has increased efficiency of replacement work of the cleaning device, and to provide an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The side face of a case 20a of a cleaning device 20 includes an opening part 212a into which a transfer residual toner storage part 25 supported by a cleaning device body is inserted, the side face being at a side from which the case 20a is inserted into the cleaning device body. When the cleaning device 20 is set in the cleaning device body, the transfer residual toner storage part 25 is inserted into the opening part 212 of the case 20a and the transfer residual toner storage part 25 is housed inside the case.
