摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling bearing unit with an encoder, having inexpensive construction for easily securing the accuracy of measuring a rotating speed or a load. SOLUTION: The encoder 12 consists of a cylindrical core metal 21 formed of a magnetic metal plate, and a permanent magnet 22 attached to a portion near the axial intermediate or inner end of the outer peripheral face of the core metal 21 throughout its whole periphery. A S-pole and a N-pole are arranged on the outer peripheral face of the permanent magnet 22 as a detected face. In the state that a portion near the axial outer end of the core metal 21 externally interference-fitted and fixed to a shoulder portion 23 of an inner ring 17 as part of a hub, a fitted portion 25 and the permanent magnet 22 are not superposed in relation to the radial direction of the encoder 12. This construction prevents the occurrence of tensile stress in the permanent magnet along with the interference fit and improves the shaping and positioning accuracy of a boundary between the S-pole and the N-pole, thus solving the above issue.
