A method for temperature control of the steam dealkylation of a C6+ hydrocarbon fraction and/or a C7+ hydrocarbon fraction in a catalyst-packed, externally-heated unit in a plant for the production of hydrocarbons from hydrocarbon-containing feedstock, in which the inlet temperature (T1) of the feedstock is higher than the outlet temperature (T2) of the product mixture from steam dealkylation.
