METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MEASURING ROUND TRIP DELAY

A method for measuring round trip delay comprises that: a base station transmits a first message, and the first message carries locating indication information and a terminal identification; the terminal selects measuring base stations to perform ranging process after it analyzes that the first message contains a terminal identification corresponding to itself; a round trip delay RTD value between the terminal and each measuring base station is obtained according to the ranging process. With the present invention, the locating of a terminal in idle status can be realized by transmitting a broadcast message that carries locating indication information, without activating the terminal, and the problem that a terminal must be activated first when a base station performs locating of the terminal in idle status in prior art is solved.
