PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface mount multilayer capacitor capable of stable low-resistance connection having high reliability and small variation in connection between anodes of stacked solid electrolytic capacitor elements. SOLUTION: In the surface mount multilayer capacitor 110, a dielectric layer is formed on the surface of a plate-like or foil-like anode body 1 formed of a face-expanded metal having a valve operation, a cathode layer 2 is formed of a solid electrolyte, graphite paste or silver paste, and the connection between the anodes is established by welding using only the same metal in forming a laminate of a single layer solid electrolytic capacitor element 100 formed by connecting an anode metal piece to the anode body 1.
