PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently form a coated film of thick film by electrodeposition coating and a coated film having aesthetic sense by thermosetting type top coating material. SOLUTION: A metal material 1 is treated so as to become a surface state suitable for carrying out coating by applying pretreatment to the metal material 1 and a first coated film 2 is formed on the metal material 1 by a thick film cation electrodeposition coating material containing 20-25 wt.% urethane-modified acrylic resin, 1-2 wt.% polyamine resin, 2-3 wt.% polyacrylic resin, a coloring pigment, a non-lead-based rustproof pigment and a curing catalyst and the first coated film 2 is drained and dried and then, a second coated film 3 is formed on the first coated film 2 by a thermosetting type top coating and the first coated film 2 and the second coated film 3 are simultaneously heat-cured.
