PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a reagent for identifying infectious prion materials and for determining whether the infectious materials are removed by a treatment or not. SOLUTION: A method for examining samples infected with the prion protein or suspicious of infected with the prion protein is provided. The method comprises a step for detecting presence of prion protein including prion dimer in the sample, the detecting step comprises probing the sample with an antibody bonding to the prion protein including the prion dimer, wherein the antibody does not bond to the prion monomer. And an antibody not bonding to the prion monomer but bonding to the prion including prion dimer, an antigen stimulating the production of the antibody, and the production method of the antibody, are also provided.
