<p>The method involves striking light rays (18) generated by a light source (14) as a light spot on an article (26b, 26c) and detecting the rays reflected from the article according to a triangulation principle by a receiving arrangement. A ray imaging element is placed in the arrangement, where the element is an array (20) of imaging elements (22b-22d) connected upstream of a pixel array. A signal pattern is produced on the pixel array corresponding to images of the spots. Information about a sensing distance between an opto-electronic device (10) and the article is determined from the pattern.</p> |
