The method involves surrounding a pipe (2) from outside, by a template (4). A rotating tool (7) presses on the pipe wall for producing different wall thickness wall areas in a longitudinal direction (L) of the pipe. A wall thickness (W) of the pipe is reduced by five percent area wise. The pipe is elongated by material extrusion and an outer side (3) of the pipe remains even in the inner profiled areas. An independent claim is also included for a device for preparing pipes with internal profiles.
