The drive has a cylindrical rotor (1) which is hinged aroung a perpendicular rotor mast (3) arranged on a ship deck (2). An asynchronous linear induction motor, effective between the rotor and the rotor mast, is arranged in the area of the lower bearing (4), such that a radially running reaction rail which is effective as secondary part is connected firmly with the rotor cover at the inner side of the rotor.
