PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a photoreceptor can be exposed in an image forming operation, a dust-proof glass can be prevented from soiling in a non-operation period not performing an image formation, laser beams can surely be prevented from being leaked to the outside of a scanning type optical apparatus in a maintenance period for cleaning the dust-proof glass, and the dust-proof glass is visualized so that a user and a service man can safely clean the dust-proof glass, specify the soiled portion and confirm the completion of cleaning. SOLUTION: The laser beams are surely prevented from leaking to the outside of an LS unit to secure an operator's safety, and a dust-proof shutter is made possible to be opened/closed in the maintenance period for cleaning the dust-proof glass or the like.
