PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ladle for ladle refining which has considerably increased mixing and stirring force of a molten steel than before while minimizing turbulence of a surface layer of the molten steel, thereby considerably shortening the ladle refining time required for desulphurization and considerably increasing the desulphurization limit. SOLUTION: The ladle for ladle refining is characterized in that: a plurality of porous plug for gas blowing are provided on a bottom of the ladle; and the mean inside diameter D of the ladle and steel bath height H in the ladle has relationship where a value resulting from dividing the steel bath height H by the mean inside diameter D is in the range of 0.9-1.1, and a value resulting from dividing the difference between the lower inside diameter D<SB>2</SB>and the upper inside diameter D<SB>1</SB>of the ladle by the steel bath height H is in the range of 120-140. With the use of the above ladle for ladle refining, the time required for desulphurization is considerably shortened, and the desulphurization limit is considerably increased.
