PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modulation error calculating device capable of calculating a highly reliable modulation error even when a receiving state is bad. SOLUTION: The modulation error calculating device is provided with a means for judging that each effective data carrier is a carrier of a modulation error calculation target only when an absolute value of an I axis component and an absolute value of a Q axis component of received data are respectively bigger than an absolute value of an I axis component and an absolute value of a Q axis component of an ideal signal point that is the closest to the received data in each carrier, and a means for calculating the modulation error on the basis of the total amount of distances Z and the total amount of distances D calculated for effective data carriers judged as a calculation target among all of data carriers within a prescribed period.
