PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video recording device which eliminates conventional troublesomeness and is convenient when a user wants to dub a plurality of titles with different picture quality for the titles. SOLUTION: After a video recording mode is specified by remote control operation for each of the plurality of titles recorded in a hard disk, an HDD 10 reproduces the titles from the hard disk one by one, a video/audio compression/expansion unit 5 expands the reproduced titles and compresses the expanded tiles at prescribed bit rates corresponding to video recording modes specified for the titles, and a DVD recording and reproducing unit 11 records the compressed titles on a DVD.
