PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a translation and conversation apparatus with which partners having no common language can keep communication with each other as smoothly and correctly as possible. SOLUTION: The translation and conversation apparatus is composed of a text in which a conversation phrase F is expressed in a plurality of languages, and which is described by attaching a selection number N to each conversation phrase F, and a voice output unit in which a voice phrase corresponding to the conversation phrase F described in the text is stored, and which receives input of the selection number N and selection of voice output language, and which translates the conversation phrase F which is described in the text, and outputs it in voice. Illustration I relating to the conversation phrase is described in the text. When the voice phrase corresponding to the conversation phrase is output by the voice output unit, it is output by pointing at the illustration I corresponding to the voice phrase, and it is returned by pointing at the relating illustration I for the voice phrase, and thereby, conversation is held.
