PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce quantity of water for removing ice sticking to a water pan in ice removing operation. SOLUTION: An ice making mechanism 10 of an automatic ice making machine has an ice making chamber of defining a large number of ice making small chambers 12a being the so-called closed cell type, and the water pan 16 arranged to freely contact and separate to this ice making chamber 12, closing an opening of the ice making small chambers 12a in ice making operation and opening the opening of the ice making small chambers 12a by separating from the ice making chamber 12 in the ice removing operation. The ice making mechanism 10 also has a water supply mechanism 24 capable of sprinkling water from a water source, on an upper surface of the water pan 16. The ice making mechanism 10 starts water sprinkling to the water pan 16 by the water supply mechanism 24 simultaneously when operating the water pan 16 for separating from the ice making chamber 12 when switched to the ice removing operation from ice making operation, and intermittently repeats water sprinkling processing by the water supply mechanism 24 by a predetermined frequency in the predetermined timing.
