<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new polycarbohydrate microparticles producible under such mild conditions as not to affect cultured cell survival, with a wide range of applications, and good in biocompatibility as well, and to provide a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The polycarbohydrate polymer compound is a polycarbohydrate microparticles crosslinked via phenolic hydroxy groups to have a mean particle diameter of 0.01-5,000 μm. The method for producing the new polycarbohydrate microparticles comprises the following process: an aqueous liquid in which a phenolic hydroxy group (as functional group)-containing polycarbohydrate polymeric compound is dissolved and/or dispersed, an enzyme having the ability to oxidize the phenolic hydroxy groups, and liquid paraffin are mixed together to form an emulsion. Alternatively, an aqueous liquid in which an amino group (as functional group)-containing polycarbohydrate polymeric compound is dissolved and/or dispersed, a polyphenolic compound, an enzyme having the ability to oxidize the phenolic hydroxy groups of the polyphenolic compound, and liquid paraffin are mixed together to form an emulsion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
