PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power line carrier communication system for achieving stable communication through an indoor power line at a low cost. SOLUTION: A main modem 4 comprises a means for holding individual identification information for identifying sub modems 1-1 to 1-3 controlled by the main modem 4, a means for transmitting a beacon frame for authenticating a sub modem and receiving a beacon ACK as a response, and collating the appended individual identification information for a sub modem, a means for relaying and sending out a transmission frame of a sub modem authenticated by agreement in the collation, and a transmission means for a control frame for measuring a reception level of the transmission frame of the sub modem and instructing transmission level adjustment according to difference with an expected value. The sub modems 1-1 to 1-3 comprise a means for receiving the beacon frame from the main modem 4 and transmitting a response beacon ACK frame along with the individual identification information of the sub modem and a means for adjusting a transmission level according to instruction of transmission level adjustment by the control frame from the main modem 4.
