Provided is an image processing device using a circuit processing method for actually recovering an image without increasing the device size. In the device, comparison image luminance data YI<SUB>0</SUB>' is generated from arbitrary image luminance data YI<SUB>0</SUB> by using change factor data G as a factor of an image change. After this, comparison is made between original image luminance data YImg' to be processed and comparison image luminance data YI<SUB>0</SUB>' and the obtained differential luminance data Yd is distributed to arbitrary image data YI<SUB>0</SUB> according to the change factor data G so as to generate recovered image luminance data YI<SUB>0+n</SUB>. After this, the same process is repeated by using the recovered image luminance data YI<SUB>0+n</SUB> instead of the arbitrary image luminance data YI<SUB>0</SUB>, thereby generating the luminance data on a basic image before the change (degradation) or the recovered image luminance data YI<SUB>0+n</SUB> similar to the luminance data on the basic image.
