<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anti-theft device capable of preventing an engine or device therewith from being stolen. <P>SOLUTION: This theft deterrent device includes sender/receiver 104 and processor 106. An engine 102 is controlled by the sender/receiver 104 once the engine 102 is connected thereto. The processor 106 is wirelessly connected to the sender/receiver 104, and the engine 102 is controlled in accordance with signals transmitted from the processor 106 to the sender/receiver 104. The processor 106 implements identification in accordance with identification codes and a user sets up a password by controlling the processor 106 in accordance with the identification codes. Once the password is entered into the processor 106, the engine 102 is allowed to be activated by the user using the processor 106.
