Block copolymer contains >=2 blocks and has fluorescence in the solid state. These blocks are the same or different and >=1 repeat unit structure is linked by covalent bonds. Between the blocks, it is linked by connecting units having covalent bonds. The polystyrene conversion average molecular weight of >=1 block is 10 3> - 10 8>. Independent claims are also included for (1) a polymeric fluorescent composition which contains the block copolymer; (2) the manufacture of the block copolymer by forming an initial polymer having groups (Y 1) at the molecule terminals by reacting a monomer (I) having reaction active groups (X 1, X 2) which mutually react in the molecule, and a monomer (II) containing reaction active groups (X 3) which form a bond which reacts with X 1, X 2, and groups (Y 1) which do not react under the reaction conditions forming bonds so X 3 reacts with X 1 and X 2, and reacting under conditions so groups Y 1 form bonds; (3) a polymeric light emitting element which has a light emitting layer including the composition between electrodes between a cathode and an anode, one of which being transparent or semi-transparent. |
