DISPLAY APPARATUS COMPRISING A FUNCTION FOR RECOVERING EDID AND THE METHOD THEREOF

A display device having a function of recovering display characteristics information and its recovery method are provided to remove the necessity of a process for recording EDID(Extended Display Identification Data) in an EDID ROM in manufacturing by a manufacturer. An EDID ROM(313) stores EDID. A memory(311) stores recovery EDID. A reception side controller(317) is connected with the EDID ROM by outputting a certain control signal to determine whether or not the EDID has been damaged. If the EDID has been damaged, the reception side controller re-records the recovery EDID in the EDID ROM to recover the EDID ROM. A switching unit(315) connects one of a terminal and the reception side controller according to the control signal of the reception side controller. The reception side controller compares the EDID stored in the EDID ROM with the recovery EDID, and if they are not identical, the reception side controller determines that the EDID has been damaged.
