<p>The device (42) has a sheathing (40) enclosing a pipeline (4) and a cavity (28) that is guided around the pipeline. A sensor (20) monitors the cavity, and is arranged in the cavity that is enclosed by the sheathing in a pressure-tight manner, where the sensor is a concentration sensor or a pressure sensor. The cavity has pressure higher than ambient pressure of the sheathing, and an evaluating unit produces an alarm when a pressure drop is detected by the sensor.</p>
