A data broadcast display method and a data broadcast receiver are provided to allow a user to previously search a program providing a data broadcast via an EPG(Electronic Program Guide) and receive supplementary information such as explanation of a corresponding data broadcast. A broadcast receiving unit(10) receives broadcast information. A data broadcast presence/absence determining and controlling unit(50) reads a data contents descriptor included in an EIT(Event Information Table) field of the broadcast information received from the broadcast receiving unit, determines whether or not there is a data broadcast according to content of the data contents descriptor, and controls outputting of the data broadcast to a screen. A GUI processing unit(40) processes the content of the data contents descriptor on the screen together with an EPG screen image. A key input unit(90) receives a user instruction as to whether or not the data broadcast is selected. A display unit(80) displays content of the data contents descriptor together with the EPG screen image, moves a channel to the data broadcast selected from the EPG screen image, and displays the received data broadcast.
