A refrigeration system with a refrigerant flowing in a cycle comprises a first compressor 1 and a second compressor 2 in a series arrangement, where the second compressor is arranged downstream of the first compressor. An intermediate-pressure connection 27 is provided between the first and second compressors such that the outlet of a first throttling device 28 is in flow communication with both the outlet of the first compressor and the inlet of the second compressor. The inlet of the first throttling device is arranged, via piping, downstream of a gas cooler 4, where the gas cooler is situated downstream of the outlet of the second compressor. The inlet of a second throttling device 24 is arranged in flow communication with both the outlet of the first compressor and the inlet of the second compressor, via the intermediate-pressure connection, and with the first throttling device. The outlet of the second throttling device is arranged in flow communication with an evaporator system 9, which is in turn in flow communication with the inlet of the first compressor. Preferably, the first and second compressors are screw compressors, each comprising an economiser connection 25, 26. |
