402,167. Window fastenings &c. CRITTALL MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and CRITTALL, W. F., Manor Works, Braintree, Essex. June 11, 1932, No. 16584. [Class 44.] Means are provided whereby a series of windows are unfastened and opened simultaneously, if necessary, as in case of fire, the arrangements described also allowing the windows to be fastened and unfastened individually. As described, a series of windows C hinged at the bottom have spring - shot catches 1 on each window, withdrawable individually by levers 12 with finger-pieces 13, a longitudinally displaceable bar 3 common to the windows having flanged projections 2 which, in normal position of the bar 3, are engaged by the catches. Bar 3 is movable in bracket guides 7 provided with anti-friction rollers and is displaced in one direction or the other by pulling cables 8 with handles 10, 10<1>. When moved from normal position by handle 10<1> the projections 2 are moved clear of the catches, releasing the windows. This movement also effects positive opening of the windows by means of rollers 15 carried by the bar 3, and which, when the bar is displaced, ride against cam flanges 16 on brackets 17 secured to the windows.
