HIGH EFFICIENT 2D-3D SWITCHABLE DISPLAY APPARATUS

A high efficient 2D-3D switchable display apparatus is provided to prevent lowering of resolution by alternately displaying left and right eye images at high speed by using a display panel. A high efficient 2D-3D switchable display apparatus(20) includes a backlight unit(21), a polarizing plate(22), a polarizing switch(23), a birefringence device(24), a reflective polarizing plate(25), a lens array(26), and a display panel(27). A reflective plate(28) is installed at a bottom of the backlight unit. The polarizing plate transmits only light of a specific polarized direction of the light emitted from the backlight unit. The polarizing switch changes a polarization direction of incident light. The birefringence device is formed by alternating a plurality of first and second birefringence devices(24a,24b). The reflective polarizing plate transmits light of a specific polarization direction of the light transmitted from the birefringence device and reflects light of other polarization directions. The lens array splits the incident light into first and second visual fields. The display panel displays an image.
