A digital broadcast system and a data processing method are provided to be resistant an error in transmitting mobile service data via a channel and have compatibility with an existing receiver. The first packet generator(130) generates signaling information including a transmission parameter related to a service of a mobile service data, and packetizes the generated signaling information into a pre-set data packet format. A mobile service multiplexer(150) multiplexes a mobile service data packet including the mobile service data and the signaling information packetized by the first packet generator. A transport multiplexer(160) multiplexes a main service data packet including main service data and the data packet multiplexed by the mobile service multiplexer and transmits the multiplexed packets to at least one transmitter located at a remote area.
