A thermally robust illumination probe tip is provided to facilitate assembly by coupling an end adjacent to a center of a glass optical fiber to an end of a plastic optical fiber by using an optical adhesive and a connector. A thermally robust illumination probe(200) includes a plastic optical fiber(202), a high temperature end part, and a housing. The plastic optical fiber is optically connected to the high temperature end part in the housing to transmit light through the high temperature end part. The high temperature end part is a glass optical fiber(206) or a high temperature plastic rod. The plastic optical fiber and the glass optical fiber are adhered to each other by an optical adhesive(204).
