An image forming apparatus and its signal synchronization method are provided to shorten time required for forming an image by removing the necessity of calculation for synchronization with respect to each laser scanning unit. A plurality of laser scanning units(20a-20d) scan laser according to a plurality of colors to form an electrostatic latent image based on print data on a photosensitive member. A controller(60) calculates an offset for the second laser scanning unit based on the first laser scanning unit that receives a horizontal synchronization signal among the plurality of laser scanning units, and controls the plurality of laser scanning units to scan laser according to the calculated offset. A video clock generating unit(30) generates a video clock for forming the image on the photosensitive member. A detecting unit(50) detects application of the horizontal synchronization signal corresponding to the first laser scanning unit. |
