A method for reducing tearing effect and an LCD device are provided to prevent the tearing effect in a frequency variation of an LCD driver or a clock variation of a controller by interworking write and scan clocks. In a method for initializing tearing effect while a write clock of a memory and a scan clock of a display are not synchronized with each other, the write and scan clocks are detected(301,305). A scan time of the scan clock and a write time of the write clock are compared(310). The write time is optimized in response to the comparison result. According to the optimized write time, color information applied from the outside is stored in a memory formed in an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) driver(320). According to the stored color information, a scanning on an LCD panel is executed(325).
