METHOD TO SELECT REPLACEMENT PIGS FOR REPRODUCING WHILE USING INTENSIVE TECHNOLOGIES

A method to select replacement piglets for reproducing while using intensive technologies includes determining the emotionality level while moving thereof into other sections of a premise or a farm by means of determining the emotionality coefficient (EC) according to the "open field" method and selecting the highly-emotional piglets. In the tested pigs of the age of 20-30 weeks the activity of creatine kinase (CK) in the blood plasm is additionally determined. In doing so the pigs with a high EC of 40-70 scores and an index of activity of the CK within the limits of 50-74 U/L are considered as stress-resistant ones and used for restoring under conditions of intensive technologies, and pigs with a low EC (10-25 scores) and an index of activity of the CK within the limits of 84-115 U/L are related to stress-sensitive ones and recommended for using in conditions of individual and small farms while using technologies with minimum amount of stresses.
