#CMT# #/CMT# The method involves collecting nasal mucus of a suspect person of contamination on a support e.g. flag. The support and a fraction of the collected nasal mucus are placed in a bottle containing a scintillating liquid. Counting of disintegration of alpha emitters contained in the scintillating liquid is performed by using a liquid scintillation counter, where the scintillating liquid is composed of organic solvent and primary and secondary solutes associated to surface-active agent. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Method for measuring by scintillation, internal contamination in a person by alpha particle emitting radionuclides for monitoring the person affected in a nuclear or radiological accident. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The method allows detection of the contamination in a person by alpha particle emitting radionuclides for monitoring the person affected in a nuclear or radiological accident in a rapid and improved manner. The scintillating liquid permits better miscibility for low activity measurement in order to obtain a stable mixture. #CMT#ORGANIC CHEMISTRY : #/CMT# The scintillating liquid includes the solvent e.g. aromatic solvent such as toluene, cumene and xylene. The liquid includes primary solute e.g. diphenyl-2,5 oxazole and phenyl-5-(4-biphenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole and secondary solutes e.g. fluorescent agent such as 1,4-bis-(5-phenyl-oxazolyl-2)-benzene, 1,4-Bis(4-Methyl-5-phenyl-2-oxazolyl)benzene and 1,4-bis(o-methylstyryl)benzene. |
