A system and a method for providing a communication service among plural client nodes in a hybrid-fiber coaxial are provided to reduce load at a central server node and to enhance management distribution effect by enabling one client to transmit a data traffic to other clients not via a server. A system for providing a communication service includes a server node(210), client nodes(220) and a shared channel bus(230). The server node and the client node are connected to the shared channel bus under coaxial cable environment with a low noise. The server node can control communication among the client nodes by transmitting or receiving a control traffic to or from the client nodes. The client nodes which has received a token via the control traffic can transmit the data traffic independently to other client nodes. The server node generates the token, notifies the client nodes that corresponding client nodes can communicate data by giving the generated token via the control traffic to the client nodes sequentially. The client nodes which have received the token transmit the control traffic to the server node for notifying the server node that the client nodes have the token, namely can communicate data, and can transmit the data traffic to other client nodes via the shared channel bus for a set time.
