A reciprocating compressor is provided to adjust centers of a piston and a cylinder automatically by forming a side pressure improving unit between the compressing unit and a motor unit. A reciprocating compressor comprises a motor unit, a compressing unit, and a side pressure improving unit. The motor unit has an inner core, an outer core, and a magnet(23) installed between the inner and the outer cores. The compressing unit has a piston(13), a cylinder(54), and a frame(55). The piston rectilinearly moves by driving force of the motor unit. The cylinder, wherein the piston is contained, forms compressing space. The frame supports the cylinder. The side pressure improving unit, installed between the motor unit and the compressing unit to prevent transmission of force between the motor unit and the compressing unit, has a first bent surface unit(54a), and a second bent surface unit(55a). The first bent surface unit is formed at the cylinder. The second bent surface unit, formed at the frame, has the same shaped as the first bent surface unit.
