PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display preventing an error display operation by preventing application of a voltage to a segment electrode from a wiring line through a substrate. SOLUTION: The electrophoretic display panel 30 comprises a display substrate 31, a transparent substrate 32 and an electrophoretic layer 33. The display substrate 31 includes a first insulating layer 311, a second insulating layer 312, and a shield layer 313. A plurality of segment electrodes 50 are disposed on the surface of the insulating layer 311, and wiring lines 315 corresponding to the respective electrodes 50 are disposed on the back face of the insulating layer 312. Each wiring line 315 is connected to each electrode 50 through a penetrating electrode 314 penetrating the insulating layers 311, 312. The shield layer 313 is disposed between the insulating layer 311 and the insulating layer 312, that is, between the siring line 315 and the segment electrode 50. The shield layer 313 is not contact with the penetrating electrode 314 and prevents influences of the voltage applied to the wiring line 315 on the segment electrode 50. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
