PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow two-way communication even when the other party is auditorially handicapped or has difficulty in speaking. SOLUTION: An IP intercom system in which a slave machine 1 is connected to a plurality of parent machines PC2 via a network is provided. The slave machine 1 is provided with a character data input means for inputting character data, a voice processing means for converting the character data into voice data and a transmitting means for transmitting the character data and the voice data to the parent machines PC2. The the parent machines PC2 are provided with a receiving means for receiving the character data and the sound data transmitted by the slave machine 1, a display means for displaying the character data, and a voice output means for outputting synthetic voice based on the voice data.
