PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for inspecting an activity of an alkali metal dispersant used as a dechlorination agent of an organochlorine compound, and a method and an apparatus for reactivating the alkali metal dispersant having decreased activity. SOLUTION: The alkali metal dispersant is made to react with an organochlorine compound in the presence of a hydrogen donor. Preferably, the degree of the activity is judged from a temperature rise caused by the heat of reaction and the time to reach a maximum temperature. The alkali metal dispersant is judged to have better activity when the temperature rise is greater and the time to reach the maximum temperature is shorter. In addition, a sodium dispersant having decreased activity is restored by heating it to a temperature higher than the melting point of the alkali metal and performing dispersing operation.
