PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cleanser for a hair dressing agent, which is usually used before shampooing hair and has a high cleansing effect on a hair dressing agent and to provide a method of use thereof. SOLUTION: The cleanser for a hair dressing agent comprises (a) a compound having 0.66-1.5 IOB in an organic conceptual diagram and (b) a polyglycerin fatty acid ester having an average polymerization degree of glycerin of 1-6. The fatty acid part constituting the polyglycerin fatty acid ester is preferably lauric acid. The method for using the cleanser for a hair dressing agent comprises applying the cleanser for a hair dressing agent to the hair coated with a hair dressing agent in a state in which the hair is dried and washing the hair with water.
