PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner which decomposes volatile organic compounds (VOC) with an inexpensive sensor instead of using an expensive VOC sensor. SOLUTION: The self-propelled type air cleaner 1 comprises a filter unit 5 with a streamer discharge section 23 for decomposing VOCs, a control section 20 for actuating the streamer discharge section 23 and a fan motor of the filter unit 5, and a humidity sensor 15 for detecting the humidity of the surrounding air. Taking advantage of a characteristic of VOCs that tends to accumulate at a place with high humidity, the inexpensive humidity sensor 15 is used instead of an expensive VOC sensor. When humidity is higher than a predetermined value, the humidity sensor 15 stops the air cleaner 1 and actuates the filter unit 5 to decompose VOCs at the streamer discharge section 23.
